Cold Overton involved in the Bats and Churches Project

16 March 2019

Everyone is aware of the benefits of having a bat roost in your church - and the problems that go with it!  The Bats and Churches Project has been funded by the Lottery Fund to help find solutions to the issues raised by bat populations within churches specifically and important heritage sites more generally.  Cold Overton is a part of the study and the Bats and Churches Project are sponsoring the bat specific elements of our refurbishment.  The new bat boxes, cameras and ongoing monitoring are all funded by this new project which will help determine the best way to manage bats in our church and, through that work, in other locations around the country.

Church Restoration Project is Over

24 August 2019

The Heritage Lottery Fund have accepted our final reports and accounts and so our Project to restore the church is now complete.  Next week will see the new chancel door installed and some final bits and bobs sorted within the church but we are done!  It's been a long two & a half years of work and the support from the village has been magnificent.  We have a church that is no longer at risk and that can play a big part in the life of the village - it offers  so much more to our small community than before the Project started.  Do come and see the new church and its facilities - there is still work to be done to restore the churchyard to its best but many hands make light work!
